Selfcare can be defined as any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated. I felt the need to define Self-care, not to educate my audience…but to educate myself.

There is no shortage of articles on self-care with tips and tricks. Yet none of those things work unless you actually do them.  I am not sure about anyone else, but I have the hardest time “trying” to start new routines.  Yet, that within itself is part of the problem -(Trying) to. What is the answer to getting out of the “trying to” stage?

 Cure “trying” by “doing”

The cure for trying is doing.  However, you may need some help to get you even to that point.  There is no one tip that will work for everyone. Clearly, Self-care will have to be a matter of routine to be effective. These tips can assist with the initial phase:

  • Commit to thirty days
  • Make it daily
  • Start simple
  • Remind Yourself

Just today I incorporated the “remind yourself” tip by setting a timer as a reminder to drink more water daily. Sound weird?  Well, I just came up with it today.
